Analysis of Coating Surfaces, Interfaces, and Defects
Abstract:

An overview of techniques and methodologies employed in the characterization and investigation of coating surfaces, interfaces, and defects will be presented.  Characterization techniques highlighted will include both light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDS) and spectroscopic techniques such as FTIR-ATR and FTIR microscopy.  Coating defects and suggested remedies will be discussed.  Example images and spectra will be presented in this ‘show and tell’ discussion.
